Governor Chris Christie gave the 84th commencement address at Endicott College this past Saturday in Beverly, Massachusetts. His opening remarks touched on the aspect of winning and losing elections by highlighting the importance of embracing our flaws, learning from our experiences, and the power of forgiveness.
In today’s world, genuine human connection is declining. We often perform instead of being honest, and we misunderstand instead of seeking to understand. Christie emphasized that learning, listening, and forgiving are not signs of weakness, but of strength and character.
Gen Z faces unprecedented mental health challenges. Don’t let innovations replace real-life connections. “You’ll only truly regret the things you chose to never try,” he said. Engage with life and the people around you.
Life is richer when we engage, even if it’s painful or difficult. Look in the eyes of those in front of you, and take full advantage of living in a country that allows such freedoms. Let’s strive for genuine connections and a deeper understanding of one another.
